Goals
According to Article 7 of the CSSQ By-Laws, following are the goals of the Coalition Sida des Sourds du Québec:
- To obtain and update all available information on HIV/AIDS and STBBI;
- To sensitize all D/deaf people and/or associations of D/deaf people about the issues surrounding HIV/AIDS and STBBI; preventing and reducing the effects of HIV/AIDS and STBBI;
- To adapt verbal, visual, written and/or electronic information, and making it available to all D/deaf people and/or associations of D/deaf people;
- To evaluate the needs and/or specific preoccupations of all D/deaf people who have HIV/AIDS and its aftereffects;
- To offer and/or facilitate access to medical, psychosocial and interpreting services, and to offer medical and moral support to all D/deaf people who have HIV/AIDS and its aftereffects;
- To speak to public, parapublic and private organizations on behalf of all D/deaf people and/or associations of D/deaf people regarding prevention of HIV/AIDS and STBBI;
- To defend and represent the interests of all D/deaf people who have HIV/AIDS, as well as those experiencing preliminary symptoms and aftereffects;
- To set up and operate one or more information network(s) in order to serve the interests of D/deaf people and/or associations of D/deaf people;
- To receive donations, legacies and contributions in cash, securities and real estate; to administer these donations, legacies and contributions; to organize fundraising campaigns in order to raise funds for charitable purposes;
- To provide proper training to D/deaf people and/or associations of D/deaf people in order to fulfill these goals;
- To represent the Coalition in dealings with provincial, national and/or international organizations.
